Ok I started it here, if you work here in WV but don't live here I hope you post to!

And if you live here, well you know you have to post!

I know we have workers at Hazelton who live in MD, PA and here in WV and possibly one or two from Ohio!

But we can run this how ever anyone wants!

Let me start by saying that the Gas is cheaper across the border in PA so fill up before coming to WV!

I'm an ohio native but moved to WV after i seperated from the military. At the moment i work with the regional jails, but have applied to glenville and i'm considering testing for OhioDOC and moving back there.

The gas prices in PA are cheaper because the whole state is not run by Democrats who wanna raise the gas tax through the roof. Now that that's out of the way, I started my career at Mount Olive "West Virginia's state Maximum Security For Men" facility, then the BOP fell into my lap a few years later, I love the state and the people in WV, but despise the Politics. If you are a conservative individual your best bet is to go somewhere other than WV and work, trust me. Here, you'll be taxed to death.
When your working for the state here and they don't want to pay you no more then $10 an hour to work Max Security, there is something seriously wrong. That's why I went Feds, it was like a $20,000 payraise, who wouldn't?

If i work at hazelton longer than another year i'm jumping over to PA The housing market is s**t and the economy if s**t. But who knows i might just transfer out. i currently reside in a little town called Kingwood.

Same here, started at MOCC in 2000 and jumped ship to the Feds in '07. As far as living here goes, there isn't a lot to do if you are not an outdoorsman. Taxes are to high but the cost of living offsets everything (imo).

I was born and raised in Ashford West By God Virginia. A little town in Boone County about 30 miles south of Charleston. I moved to NC in '93. I'll have to agree with some of the other posters, WV is a beautiful place to live and a great place for kids BUT you will be taxed to DEATH.

Liberal Democrats have a firm grip on the folks in WV. What gets me is nearly all the folks there are conservative, but vote democrat regardless of the candidates views. My father is a democrat and almost as conservative as I am.

Still, if I were able I'd move back tonight. Taxes be damned, WV is a much safer/sane place for my daughter to grow up. It saddens me to know the indoctrination she is receiving in the schools here.
