How many out of 30 applicants?

I am uncertain when this written but it had to happen sometime between a year ago and now.

I just read a State of Washington Decision paper on the DOC Recruiting and Retention budget request from 2007-2009. I was astonished to learn the challenges it is taking to find WADOC CO's

Under the topic of Recruitment Issues an example of Clallam Bay Corrections Center was used (it turns out that these same issues are not unique to only Clallam Bay in Washington State)-

CBCC recently completed the hiring process to fill on-call positions. Approximately 30 applicants were contacted. Of those 30 applicants, eight expressed interest in employment and were scheduled to participate in the hiring process. Four of the eight showed up. These four successfully completed the Physical Agility Test and were given conditional job offers. Of these four, two failed the drug screening. The remaining two proceeded to the final portions of the hiring process.

2 out of 30

I would be curious to know if this is industry standard? I could certainly believe it, sad as it is. And one of those probably won't stay a full year for whatever reason!

Iowa isn't quite that bad but .....................let me try to remember

The last time I checked the stats at my insitution would have been about 2 yrs ago...................
Initial interviews, and other testing produces a Cert list that is ordered from the central office level.

Sent to Iowa Personnel for a Cert list of 50
Sent out 20 letters for final interview
Made appointments for the 17 that responded to the letter
Interviewed the 12 that actually showed up for the interview
Conditional offer to 10 of the above 12
9 showed up for orientation started employment.

Oh yea out of those 9 .....1 didn't make probation....and 2 others should not have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I quit looking at the stats after that experience!
