LOL!
Sounds like you had a fine introduction to OC! I had it in my academy with the Sheriff's Office. We are exposed to it here almost weekly when things pop off in the facility. I have had both OC and taser, I would much rather ride 50,000 volts of hell than endure a straight blast to the face with OC again. How many hours a night are you spending on homework or study? |

Yea my first OC blast was in the Marine Corps, but it never feels any better. I simply don't think even most folks with superhuman eyeballs ever build up a good tolerance. No homerwork in CORE but the study time is usually a good 2-3 hours the night before exams, which typically on Monday mornings. |

Re: Wa Doc ??
CORE is a great way to build foundational knowledge. But keep in mind, once you hit the units, things are way different. Youll learn more your first few days on then you did your entire time in CORE.
OC is an effective tool. Depending on how much you are exposed to it, your tolerance level will build up. Im over at MCC SOU and we've got guys in there that can take OC all day. One will literally sit in his cell and take 9-10 cans and laugh at you. But we recently got a new toy in...its an OC/CS mix and looks exacly like a grenade. Cant wait til I see this in action. |

Re: Wa Doc ??
Some advice for all you new hires out in COREland. Keep your integrity and don't get caught up in the game inmates play. They will try to manipulate you, ask you for favors, threaten you and maybe even your family. Just keep in mind that if you give them a small hole they will dig at it until they get something. Try to treat every inmate the same, be consistent in the way you deal with them and let them know when they step over that line. Listen to your senior staff as they have the job experience to help you deal with inmates and other staff that may not have very positive attitudes. Do your jobs the way you were trained at CORE but also remember that it's the staff you will be working with that knows how things work in a prison. Be safe and hope to maybe work with some of you over the years. I have worked in corrections for over 17 years and still like to come in to work.
