We are involved in a portal to portal for custody only now. It concerns the 30 minute lunch breaks nobody ever got. Arbitration is suppossed to be Sept. 10th or 11th. Will see what happens.

The effective method for addressing BOP stupidity is always the same. You follow the policy/instruction to the letter, and let Nature take its course. This has always been true. As a Union not just the E-board we should follow there policy. Don't break the rules, if they order you to then have a wittness or get it in writting. You will find when you ask it in writting they will run to a corner. The problem is to many don't want to cause waves. But they are the first to ask what did the union due about it. My question what did you do about it. Nothing will happen over night and nothing will happen with out pain. If your not willing to put your name on it, then you should not have it coming.
To many stand with thier hands out looking for a check but don't wish it to be known.

Sorry I am coming to this thread so late in the game. But here is something to consider:
"The employee is not relieved if he is required to perform any duties, whether active or inactive, while eating."

This is a quote from federal law. Most BOP staf dining rooms are located inside the secure confines of the institution. All staff are required to respond to emergencies while inside the secure confines of an institutiton. Is what the above quote means, is whether a body alarm sounds or not (active or inactive), the fact that you are required to respond means that you are not relieved.
