Here is a very worthy organization that everyone should consider joining. Dues are as little as $5 per month, and they do a world of good.

Amen!

CPOA does fantastic work, for a mere pittance. Recent examples of them helping members at my institution include emergency airfare for a member (while at the Union caucus!), and assistance with burial expenses for an officer who was killed in a traffic accident on her way to work (less than two months before her scheduled retirement).

We also have a state prison just 25 miles away, and I've seen multiple reports of CPOA helping out there. One of their officers was killed by a hit-and-run driver, while training for a bicycle ride across Texas as a CPOF fundraiser; naturally, CPOA was there for his family, and his warden and major made the ride in his place.

They provide help here at Hazelton when one of our Officers was assaulted by an inmate.

They also came out this pass Fall and we had them set up a table in the Lobby.
A Lot of us jumped in to sign up! I went for the, I think it was the $26 a month, so I could work on getting one of the Jackets!

I had no idea these guys were that active. I thought that this group was just the pinkie finger of CCPOA (California). We always have their magazine on our break room and it is usually a good read. Hmmm, maybe I'll give them my dollar after all.

I think any association which focuses on US is a great one. How many of us have tried to join other law enforcement organizations and been told NO, you work in a prison? Some people have been disgruntled because managers can join it, too. But I won't begrudge anyone with a death, family emergency, or illness some assistance.

There's two different ones, and I can't find the pictures of them. One is a Denim Jacket style and the other is a Gold Jacket. in the quarterly magazine there are pictures of the two jackets but when i looked on line at the site there are no pictures available with someone wearing them.
