A little more information about the CPOF. It stands for Correctional Peace Officers Foundation. It ONLY aides correctional officers who work in either a state or federal facility. Maybe even some county or cities but No contract facilities at this time.

They have helped many people at our institution. They are not specific to the Union or to Administration, they just want to help. I know they have helped an officer here when his wife died. They helped a Lt Here when his wife had a stroke. They helped another officers family with Burial expences of the Officer when he died of Cancer. Here is what I think speaks the most of them. None of the three cases I just mentioned were members of the CPOF. They are Members now. They didnt do it because these guys were donating. They did it because these fellow officers needed help.

The Lady who is the representitive for the CPOF from Texas, got active with the CPOF, after her husband. Who was a Correctional Worker was killed.

They are a TON of help and a Great organization.

You can donate to them through payroll deduction and also through the CFC. However if you donate through the CFC then they dont get as much of the money as if you donate through payroll deduction.

If you ever want to see some great people helping strangers, you wont find a better group than these ladies.

Oh, and the Jacket. IT looks great. It is Denim with tan sleeves. Much like a football letter jacket with the CPOF emblem on the left breast.

If you do not agree with me on this, you can kiss my as$:
CPOF is the most unselfish, humanitarian organization Correctional Peace Officers have. In the federal sector, this organization is listed in the CFC booklet. Join CPOF. It is the best money you will ever donate, and not wonder where the money is going! Join CPOF.
A few years back, Florida was hit with a few hurricanes, CPOF helped, if my numbers are correct, 39 employees, of which only 7 were members. This organization helps US. Join CPOF. Kim Blakely, a CPOF representative, is one of the nicest, caring people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Anyone that went to the CPL National Convention knows who she is. This is a A+++++ organization. Join CPOF.
As for the jackets, they are very nice. denim torso, with tan sleeves and CPOF logo on the breast of jacket. I wear that more to work than I do the bop jacket. If you have not figured it out yet, Join CPOF.

I signed up when I was in ART.

I did it for the hat.

Seriously though, it's a great organization and I'm proud to be a member.

It is a shame they don't include private prisons-I would join in a heartbeat- they sound great.

The CPOF is,in my opinion, one of the best organizations for Correctional Officers. I've been a member since I started working in corrections.

There is actually a new one out that is like a wind breaker. So there are three styles available now. I personally have seen them help over 11 members at my SCI in the last 4 years. They do great work and the people that work for them are some of the most caring and true folks you will ever meet. Look them up and check them out. They do as their motto says..."Taking Care of Our Own"

Be safe...

I would look in to it Smiley. I don't think that a private prison makes a difference. If you work in a Correctional Institution, you can become a member. Call and ask to speak to Rachel Lee, she is the CPOF membership Co-ordinator at 1-800-800-CPOF. She can help you with any membership Questions. She is the best.

Be safe,

Ober

Here are some photos of the 2 jackets that they have out at the moment. There is also a Tan Windbreaker that I have yet to see. Hope this helps as to what the jackets look like.
