I too have no use for either party as a whole, a politician is just that a politician and I have yet to see any of them that wasnt out for themselves.

The only thing I can go on is that my available spending money after paying bills is the lowest it has ever been. Our cost of living raises barely (if even) cover the cost increase of our health benefits each year. This year especially it would take about a 20% raise to even come close to our actual cost of living increase.

I have heard talk of them adjusting the pay scale again?

Back to the election I do not want 4 more years of this crap, and 4 years under Muslim rule would be unbearable, SO WHERE IS A 3RD CHOICE?

PS, I probably would have voted for Hillary after all she ran the country for 8 years while Bill played house LOL

Re: BOP funds

I don't like either choice.

If Obama would leave my guns alone and McCain wouldn't look to privatizing our jobs I might like one of them. As it is I'm going to have to select the "lesser of two evils". I know what we will have under McCain, I don't know for sure what Obama brings to the table.

There is an old saying, "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't." I think that applies here.

There aren't too many secrets at this point. Same thing most in the BOP said when Clinton was in office. Don't take my GUNS!!! Obama has mentioned that he supports the right to bear arms, but would most likely make a ban on assault rifles (AK-47, Tech 9, etc.) but who wouldn't be against weapons that gang bangers try getting their hands on that kill our fellow brothers in law enforcement?

To do something at the expense of going against the US Constitution is not a good thing, no matter how well intentioned. I don't care for either choice that much, but at least McCain truly went outside of the box with the VP candidate pick. I am curious as to how that will effect things for us.

As to the OP, yes their whining continues.

Re: BOP funds

Let's see, Obama hates the gov't employee. Obama will take away our firearms, and yes, I want an AK or Tech-9 or a .50 BMG or a .338 Lapua (all slated to be banned under Obama). Not that I am supporting the GOP whole heartedly, by what is wrong with pay for performance? Maybe some of those tower rats, mobile bugs, and control hounds will actually come out and interact with a convict.

Back to the year end spending issue. Because of the FAR policies and the way the budget comes down, reserves are held until the 4th quarter in the event of an emergency. All monies must be spent in the 4th quarter. Shame on everyone who buys flat sceens and furniture. Those funds should be spent on supplies and vitals t carry us into the 1st quarter. Because, everyone knows, no budget will be passed due to democrat/republican fighting.

Ideal President:

NRA lifetime member
Pro-gov't/military employee - pay for performance based
For a woman's right to choose
Pro domestic (home front) agenda
Pro American workers/products
Will drill in the Arctic Nat'l Wildlife Preserve
Pro foreign relations/diplomatic relations
Uniform health care
Establish welfare system that ensures participants use birthcontrol
Close borders - allow day workers (none of our kids will wash cars or pick fruit)
Legalize drugs but ensure all drugs are laced with birthcontrol
No established drinking age for military men and women, 18 for everyone else
Move BOP from Justice to Homeland Security
Streamline death penalty

I don't know about where you're at, but some people at my place wouldn't do Control unless marched in at the point of a rifle, (they dislike it that much). So, I do it in a relief position, then work the SHU. I don't think I would like any of the ones you have stated for all the time. It would get boring.

To add to your pres list.

Pro life.
Would require that all men under military forced retirement age to undergo training and be appropriately equipped including with firearms and equipment to be stored at ones house, so that when called upon would be immediately ready to go into action.

Getting paid more for extra performance is the American Way, and I would gladly welcome such a system.

Trouble is, "performance pay" isn't, and wouldn't be.

If you doubt it, just take a look around at who gets awards at your next Correctional Workers Week recall. The best performers? Or just the best performers under the desk?

Performance pay in a perfect world would be great. The trouble is, this isn't a perfect world, favoritism would increase even more than it is. Merit based performance is hard enough to come by as it is, as it is within the judgment of the evaluator; which may be fair only if the evaluator is fair. There are times it isn't due to the personal animosity that an evaluator may have toward the one being evaluated.

Shooter,

I am not sure where you are going but if you remember Bush fought the pay raise all the way. Congress got our pay raise. Yes they did because I wrote six letters to Senators after Bush threw a fit. Bush also has stood by since 2004 and watched our officers dwindle on ever shift. If you think Mcbush with the beauty queen is going to make a difference for the BOP then I agree he will. The difference will be the same we have been looking at and why the BOP is in the worse shape ever. I have been in the BOP a long time and the last eight years have been the worse.

I am putting 8 Obama signs in my yard today.

If you think voting for Obama for office is what you need to do, it's still a free country.

However, I cannot bring myself to vote for someone who is so radically for infanticide, just to have more money and a job. I would work elsewhere if need be, and have; although it's been awhile since I have had to do job interviews. If you want good changes for the BOP my suggestion is to look at who is running for US Congress this election period and act on that information as you said, "Congress got our pay raise."
