Changes
OK gang, we've had the death, RIP Officer Rivera.
Now I have a very important question to those of you that said, "Just wait, things will change once somebody gets killed." Well, what changes have we had? Nada, none, zip, that's what changes we've had. Hardley Lapdog is still running things the same ol' way and management still believes you can "talk" to a sociopath. Bunch a friggin' losers is what management is. I've seen retarded puppies that are smarter. Biker |

Re: Changes
Well biker.... not all of us are retarded puppies or are we. Some of us actually know what the he!! we are doing, but RD's, AD's, Hardley, and OIA like to think they can make us behave. Retarded puppies don't learn well, so if leadership is engrained, then there you have it. If you can make the change and want to risk it all... come get some. Take on the roll. Change can only happen if we are all willing to step up. Now, ither you can belly ache and bioch about it, or you can come and get ya some...... what will it be?

Re: Changes
I'll be steppin' up to the plate to get some as soon as a certain "management" position opens up.
Prolly won't make BQ List though. There are some good managers, but too many that aren't. I hope I can make it to the management side of the fence though. I don't play politics well and I don't suffer fools. Biker |

Re: Changes
Ya know.... I don't play politics well either. However, I some some real, back in the day, hard pipe hittin' M.F.er's that believed in me and now I can get mine and take care of my people well. Gettin' on the BQ is an issue now a days. But, don't give up. You can only make the changes from within. I'm tellin' ya. It is hard, and you will have to go thru many a OIA investigation where some little pogue GS-13 never been anywhere, never had blood on his or her shirt piece of garbage, wants to question "Why did you lock down the institution, because certain staff said you over reacted?" and they've never been there. It sux and it's great all in one.
If we are going to change this agency for the better, then we have to empower the staff to make the decisions we need them to make, then back them up. |

There's way too much wrong with the BOP the was it is. Staff need vest, pepper spray and the ability to run their house. The people in Region and Central have no friggin' clue. Biker |

Re: Changes
Agreed...... way too many managers and not enough leaders. Leading isn't always doing what is popular with management, but it is always with the best intentions of the troops at heart. The Marine Corps made it a bit simpler back in the day. Get a bad manager, drop a frag into the foxhole. Then, you are only left with the leaders.
I also agree that staff who want vests should have them. I agree with the ASP and Top-cop pepper spray too. Managers say that staff would abuse those tools. Leaders say that just like LEOSA, we'll not have any more issues than we do now. |

Re: Changes
Migrant workers is how I would describe them. Here for the promotion and could care less what mess is left in their wake. But if you think I'm going to accept a gold name tag and being told to work E/W Thu/Fri off or whatever the wim of the Capt. might be your crazy. The worst job in the BOP is being a LT.

"The Marine Corps made it a bit simpler back in the day. Get a bad manager, drop a frag into the foxhole. Then, you are only left with the leaders." Marine Corps=Fighting Hole Frag=Army Term... The Corps has SNCO's who deal with ineffective individuals regardless of rank. The Maine Corps makes leadership the standard-not managers or bean counters. The BOP standard is "Risk Aversion and the Absence of Moral Courage." This is demonstrated by many who can audit the crap out of anything, yet they themselves cannot run a viable program for any sustained period. I've heard these folks referred to as "Blamestormers." There is also a huge number of folks who suffer from blind obdience. No true input to the boss and no valid decisons made for those working in the trenches. It is similar to the press uproar over the Hummers not being armored. Hey-they replaced the CUTV, M880 and JEEP! Only the best... Ever wonder where those folks went who did not volunteer or qualify for the military? |
