See my post at:
Cpl. Who Refused Vehicle Search Fired

A former Leavenworth inmate has robbed a bank to finance a trip from Virginia to Kansas for his stated purpose of murdering two BOP staff members.

That's why I carry. The BOP will wait until some of it's staff gets killed before forming a comittee to consider the problem.

The union has been trying to negotiate weapons storage for two years with the agency to no avail. The bottom line is that the BOP would rather have your name on the wall of fame rather than allow staff to protect themselves. Harley and the rest of the **********s honestly don't care about the safety of you or I.

I doubt that anyone's name would go on the wall of fame if it happened outside of work even if it came from a former inmate who gets himself put back in over it. Which then means that the staff member would be forgotten!!

And as far as the Director and company, well,... when has this bunch shown much concern for the safety of staff if they can save a buck some where, and then re-line their own pockets with that buck ....

We must never give up the fight, no matter how long it takes.. for the life of one staff is not worth a buck saved by the unconcerned, poorly thinking and misguided Director!

The last state facility I worked at, we couldn't have any weapons in our vehicle on state property without writing a letter to the superintendent and getting written approval from him/her. That written approval is to be kept with the weapon, locked in the glove box of the locked vehicle. Our vehicles, once parked on the state property were subject to search at anytime. If found to have any type of weapon, including a knife, in your vehicle while on state property, without the written permission, you were subject to disciplinary action. The reason for this is because we had trustees who did ouside grounds and they weren't taking any chances if one broke into any vehicle. You were also subject to a write up if the shift commander found your vehicle unlocked while doing outside walkarounds.(and they occasionally checked door handles)

Sometimes, I think the administration at all levels of corrections, county, state and federal, don't think about ex-inmates coming after us and/or the situations we may end up in. I was in Wal-mart a few weeks back with my daughters and noticed an ex-con who seemed to be in every aisle that I was in. I was going to address this but I had my seven year old daughter with me and didn't want to go that route being it was just me and her. I have noticed though, since I switched from state to county, I tend to see more ex-inmates on the streets due to the shorter sentences they serve in the county system. They are just as dangerous in my opinion.

Re: Staff Threatened

Now days it's good to pack heavy as possible. I don't have a whole lot of choices right now, but as I accrue stuff, after getting rid of a few other things that I have to tend to, I will be even heavier. Kind of hard to figure out where I would put some of it in a minivan, which is why I like hand arms so well. I wonder what would be thought of if someone saw a ceiling rack in the van?
