If Toney and Brandenburg are an example of the quality of staff there, I would love to work there. I cannot say enough good things about them. 2 words come to mind "Class Act". I always felt safe with the Terre Haute guys on shift.

PM sent! Forgot to mention Brandonberg transfered back here to Terre Haute. Our gain!!

Our outgoing SIS, Tellez, is going to Victorville as Captain. I have to say that from the Union's perspective, although he's a 100% Bureau man, he's been the easiest, most straight-forward SIS we've ever dealt with. And I mean no slight against our other, former SIS lieutenants, some of whom are great lieutenants (and some of whom were real turds).

I would love to be the first one to have charges brought against the inmate for making a false statement under oatrh. I think the words are perjury, and obstruction of justice.
Sounds familiar -- except they usually charge staff who deny false accusations.

When you say straight forward, what do you mean?

Copboy, ERE is a good joint, if you want a joint that runs it self, But I think you might have a problem here, due to , there is so many older staff here and know how to do their jobs, and cant stand Micro managing. Many people or LTs think Unions are tough and are scared of them, but if the Administration would follow their own policy, there would be no need for Unions, If I asked a LT, A/L 2 days before something I would have nothing coming. But there are those who think they should be given everything no matter what.

Re: FCI Jesup

I cannot stand micro management. The only ones I micro manage are the ones who prove they need to be. When I started, the 8's ran the shift. They only got the Lt involved if it was necessary. I have officers where I am that know their job. I let them run with things with my blessing. I do this with the knowledge that if I tell them to "handle it" and things go wrong, it was my decision to let them handle things. Don't get me wrong I do not mean handle it as in use of force etc. It is their housing unit, and as long as they do not violate policy, I will let them make the call.

Why is that? The Master Agreement clearly states in Article 19, Section M:

Quote:
Section M: Total leave-year scheduling
does not prohibit employees from
requesting leave for various lengths and
reasons throughout the leave year. The
Employer will consider the employee's
needs for an expeditious response, and
such leave requests will normally be
approved or denied within twenty-four (24)
hours of the request.

Re: FCI Jesup

Maybe he explained it wrong. If an officer comes to me 2 days before, the odds of getting it approved are kind of slim. This is because most people requested leave far enough in advance that they were able to get the remaining spots without incurring overtime.

Re: FCI Jesup

Probably so.

I'm stuck in Leavenworth time. Typically there, you put in a request two months before and get no response. Then you resubmit it two weeks before and still get no response. Then you resubmit two days before and still don't get a response until you threaten to file a grievance. Then you get a response. It's much simpler just to call in sick. At least that way you will know whether it's approved or denied.

That's how it's done at Leavenworth--which is "The Flagship" of the BOP by the way.
