Re: USP-Atwater : Community Leaders threatened with arrest

This whole thing with Atwater has blown up right in the face of the Lapdog and the rest of the BOP hierarchy. They were cruising along, not hiring staff, pulling posts and saving money and bingo! an officer gets killed. Now they have to moonwalk, spin and attempt to cover-up their own idiotic policies and they hate it! The fact that an officer was killed means very little to them. Being in the spotlight and showing their intrinsic incompetence is what galls them the most. "What happened? We have all these GS's and we're smart! Why did this go wrong?" BAHAHAHA! I hope heads roll over this one!

Re: USP-Atwater : Community Leaders threatened with arrest

You're right Tude! The BOP always preaches being PROACTIVE, but history shows them being more reactive. The GS honchos do not listen to those staff that are on the front lines, they want to pretend that as long as we treat the inmate population "nice" they will act "nice". Obviously it is not working. "Doing more with less" has cost the lives of officers. I hope this really bites them in the A$$ !

I have never in 16 years heard the BOP "preach" being proactive about anything except cocktasting and other forms of self-promotion.

Re: USP-Atwater : Community Leaders threatened with arrest

"BOP" and "proactive" shouldn't ever be used in the same sentence together. I also get a good laugh at the Forward Thinking Initiative they have on Sallyport. That one's hilarious!

Tude,

"Forward thinking..." that's a new one for this old hack! I guess it upsets you and me that the BOP has the staff to run things right, but they will ever be promoted up to those positions.

Re: USP-Atwater : Community Leaders threatened with arrest

Exactly, we all know that when the BOP cut direct supervision posts things were going to get worse. To save a little on overtime! We said it would happen, it happened, it is happening, and if the reacting does not start it will not get better. The BOP should have brought in more officers not cut our forces. The Warden told us "when the budget gets cut social programs are the first to go". This is not Head Start this is officer safety! That crap of saying "you should be happy to have a job" or "there is a war going on" is not going to cut it anymore. People are getting hurt and no crap phrase will make it better after it happened. First I was happy to have a job before officers were cut but does not mean I have to be happy about a crap situation. Second that war thing is getting old. If military action is going to make it unsafe for our officers than that is something to think about and a poor excuse to cut the budget. So the excuses are getting dried up and old, the time to start thinking the staff cut was a bad idea should have been day one.
