Re: USP-Atwater : Community Leaders threatened with arrest

so jb209 are you a kind of halfway house between the feds and bia? i had no idea that even existed is that common in other areas or just a few isolated tribes?when i started and worked at el reno the alcohol and drug unit housed around 140 inmates and about a 1/3 were native americans. so if you couldn't find some hooch on a regular basis you just plain weren't shakeing down!!!

I finally made my 9 after 9 years with the BOP. I also worked Kentucky State Penitentiary for 6 months and Phelps Correctional Center in Louisiana for 2 years, and by far this gig I got now is the best. The BIA has a lot of problems with corrections, but needs good knowledgeable folks to help fix it's problems. They are finally getting alot of congressional attention, so have the funds to fix some issues. Look it up. I actually got a visit from a senator's staffer last week, something a 9 in the BOP would never do, but I have been doing conferences, and making policies since transferring over. It is actually pretty exciting being in a program that wants a hack's opinion.
I've noticed those jobs. Didn't know much about them. I assumed that BIA jails would house misdemeanants and those awaiting trial?

Arizona, Washington, Montana, Colorado, Nevada, and the Dakotas, mostly remote areas, but some are situated nicely, like mine, but they are the oddities.
