Officer fires a warning SHOT! What the hell. At my institution we do not fire warning shots. If the shot is to be fired it is to disable. Bottom Line.

The only agency I've been with that wants you to give a waning shot is the BOP. The Sheriff Dept. I used to work for has the policy of "Shoot to STOP." If the perp. dies that's his problem. He won't taking you to court because you "VIOLATED HIS CIVIL RIGHTS."

Re: Inmate Recovering After Shooting

Odd thing here is, the institution refuses to at least set the sights on our rifes at minimal battle sight settings. During ART the firearms instructors will watch you fire your first three rounds to see where they hit. Had a few times where I was told. OK OK, aim for his left shoulder you will be hitting about center then... This is at 50 yards...

WTF OVER???

These are the same rifles that we will be using during an incident. Would you REALLY want someone shooting at an inmate across the rec yard 150 - 200 yards with officers in the area??

I wouldn't, I am an excellent shot.

But this is insane!!

When you work the primiter trucks you will find where other staff will sit and play with the sites cranking them up and down and back and forth...

Why can they not grasp someone's life may actually depend on the person using this weapon being able to hit what they are aiming at??

REALLY REALLY insane!
