Assault and stabbing at Warkworth Inst.

We had an incident where I work on Sun where one inmate was bludgeoned and another stabbed (superficially) 13 times. No staff hurt. I was working seg so I was busy for a while lol. I'll post the news when it comes out.

Update,

The inmates involved were caught red handed (literally) on the range so management figured they had everything under control so they put the rest of the inst. back to normal routine except for the unit where the stabbing took place. Segregation was full so we had 5 cons "segregated" in their own cells. I was on my days off starting the next day but I was told that subsequently 6 more shivs were found so the next day we locked back down again for 2 more days of searching. Quite a bit more contraband was found.

Our management is always in too much of a hurry to return to normal routine rather than wait for the dust to settle and take stock of the situation.

BTW yes Warkworth is in Ontario, federal high-medium security, 94.8% violent offenders approx 40% serving life or indeterminate sentences.

This seems to be an issue everywhere. For some reason management seems to always want to come off lock down way to early.

Looks like your shakedown crews did a pretty good job. Interesting to see that the US and Canada have some of the same mismanagement issues though. We're always to quick to put everything back to normal, don't want to inconvenience those poor inmates. What if they had to miss out on rec time? <sic>
