Unhappy Dry cell
I did my first dry cell today.... EEEWWW!!! The inmate is detoxing and possibly hiding drugs in a cavity... I got to sort through VOMIT

Since I'm the low man on the totem pole we get to go through this until the inmate poops 3 times. How do other facilities handle this?

We have a portable toilet. Place a clear plastic bag in it. After i/m does the deed, tie it shut and squish the poo inside the trash bag and look for the ballons

I am a regular seg officer so I see dry cell alot. We have a pre-sentenced jail section which has a dry cell protocol for folks coming in off the streets. If they meet certain criteria they go to seg for dry cell. (all dry cell is done in seg) Also if a sentencd inmate is found with substance contraband at any time they are placed in seg on dry cell status. Our minimum policy is like 72 hours but I have seen them on as long as a week because the D.O.S. makes the final decision to take them off.

Lucky me... the inmate dropped a "banana" today.... YUCK!
AND my shift sergeant thinks it's HILARIOUS to gag and dry heave to
try and make me puke... I think he's trying to make sure I can hack it...
so far so good. BUT I don't have to work in booking (the inmate is in a seg cell
there) tomorrow... I'm housing rover so I'll be dealing with other stuff.
Hope the inmate poops 2 more times before Tuesday when I'm back over
there....
