Red face Week One

Well..... I survived my first week! (We work seven 12-hour shifts in a row up here... the first week is 6pm-6am and then a week off.... then we work 6am-6pm then a week off)

I'm psyched because I learned a LOT. For the first 2 days I worked the day shift with one guy- he showed me a lot of stuff. It was a little hard to remember everything he said but I followed him around & tried to figure it out. The third day through today I worked with another guy... this dude knows SO much... he totally impressed me. I can see how being really good with people can get you ahead in this job. He showed me how to do things once and then let me do them myself. I love that because it's easier for me to learn that way.

My whole shift is a blast- everyone plays practical jokes on each other and jokes around- it's SO fun- even the Shift Sargeant is hilarious.

I did my first pat searches today- booked people in completely on my own. I got to talk down a very agitated female that came in. They even toughened me up a little & talked me into shocking myself with the EID. I did it 3 times... I think I earned some street cred... haha

Anyways, it's 6:30 AM and I need to go to bed! YAY for corrections! haha

Excellent! Which prison did you go to?

More importantly, how is the recruiting mission going?

Congrats co_toughgirl I would like a schedule like that. 1 week of work and 1 week off. Nice.

What would be the point of going to the academy after you worked the job for a year? That's weird.

I am not and did not read this whole thread...

My first piece of advice for a FNGirl would be do not listen to anyone when they are talking about another staff member. Make your own decision concerning each staff member. May be the person telling you to watch this person and that person is actually the person you need to watch......

I'm just saying
