I'll take any info I can get. We have some Good *'s and a few good LT's but they expect you to figure to many things out on your own. I'm sure you know the deal.
Check the gangs and groups area in the verified co/leo section.

Re: Tips For The New Guys

Here's a couple tips from a FNG who learned this from a senior guy:

1) These guys aren't your friends and you aren't theirs. Expect some respect and give back equally.
2) Say "No" You can always change and to a yes, but it is very hard to change a yes to a no.
3) Remember, do not put your hands where your eyes cannot see, ever!

True. At the same time these guys can smell fear AND they will try to take advantage of that fear.

Re: Tips For The New Guys

Lately they have been sending a lot of FNG's to work with me in the seg unit, I don't know why because I'm not a trained FTO but I get them anyway. Now, it's not like I have a ton of time in (2.5yr) but I always try to show them what I know and how I do my job. It never fails, at least one time during the day they will make the following statement.
"This might be a stupid question, but..."
I stop them mid sentence and give the following advise, so listen up FNG's!
The only stupid question is the one you DON'T ask. You are on OJT to ask "stupid" questions, don't be embarrassed to admit you don't know something, your new to this, we understand. If you're asking questions you are learning, it's the ones that don't ask questions I worry about.

sorry to be so long winded.

I worked in the SHU for a while and wound up getting put in the trick bag. I asked loads of questions, but neglected to ask the most important one: "Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
