Re: pat downs
I'll respond to the original post......
I think we can all safely say there is people we work around that shouldn't be there. My capacity is that of a total peon. Luckily, I am in charge of training. What we've done in the past has worked so far, maybe give it a try. We include searches etc. in our DT program. Within the past year, I now video document all of that training. We do a lot of simulation training and the tape is a great witness. If I'm sent a potential problem child (officer), I make sure we cover the problem they're having more in-depth. After the classes or evolution we do a friendly, not so friendly critique of all who participated. Sometimes the person needs to see that they're actually screwing up, on tape to believe it. Also I work in a county facility and we tape all bookings and other "hot" areas. Nothing like a actual tape played in front of your peers, to show your mistakes. Now we are wise about this, we don't ridicule them, they need to learn. And the ones who don't make it, well we've all seen them doing security at our local neighborhood Walmart.

Re: pat downs
Some people are just plain stupid. It takes a major incident to wake one of them up...
Have you tried a good quality 1 on 1 talk? Don't ever effect my safety, I want to come home at night.. |

Re: pat downs
I actually saw a guy do a pat search while sitting in a chair. I have to say that was the pinnacle of pure unadulterated laziness. And this is a guy has worked for a long time at some bad ass joints too, he was at New Mexico State Pen during the riots, so he should have known better.

Re: pat downs
I would rather noone shoot at all with thugs crawling all over me. I will gladly wait for backup instead. All it takes is one accidental round hitting your butt and it's all over, I will take my chances. I don't trust anyone who has a bead within 2 feet of me.

Re: pat downs
Yeah, it was on our job shadow day before we starting working our regular shift. While I've been a CO for a few years at other joints, there were at least three dudes who were fresh standing with me. This guy is a huge sack of TURDS.
