Xarrion, I don't know much about Big Spring, other than knowing a few people who work there (or who have worked there in the past). If you're into West Texas, I think it's a pretty good place. They have a very strong union, which helps.

I have a friend in Big Springs. He likes it.........

the BOP is a good place to work, just be a brother and don't let the politics of others run your life!

I didn't say anything about whether there are people there who like or love it, of course there are...

But if you haven't been there for the last 15 yrs, you don't have any clue about the rash stuff that goes on.

I reported what I've seen, FIRST HAND. TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH!

OH, ABOUT YOUR ADVICE...

There's a saying most never hear till they arrive at BS..."No other institution runs the way Big Spring runs!"
Yikes, simma down now. He was just giving his opinion, thats what we do here.

No need to answer.
Oh, there is no NEED to answer, but I feel it's my pleasure too. You burnt the guy for giving his 2 cents about something. So instead of piping up with some angst ridden nonsense you could have just let it ride, is that about the gist of it?

If the FBI/CIA/Omega Squad or whatever agency is so much better, thn go. Your covered and can transfer at any time. It blows my mind that people come in and say, "Oh the noez, get far from agency X, they will eat your soul!!!", but then they keep working there which makes them even unhappier.

I digress, what you said was your opinion, do we need to break down the difference between opinion and fact? Objective vs subjective?

No need to answer.

Carry on

Re: Considering BOP

As long as you have pespective, the Bureau is a good way to go.

Let me explain.I am in a Navy Law Enforcement unit.Probably 85 % of our members are in some type of law enforcement.Troopers, police detectives, patrolman, corrections,USMS and so on.Know what they all have in common ? Mostly ? They're cops first. That's what they do.They don't play softball, golf, hunt, fish or macrame' jean shorts. They're cops.At most, they collect patches from other cop agancies.
And that's great.I'm glad they devote their entire psyche to their job.We should all sleep feeling safer knowing that.

As for me....fukc that.
Thanks to the Bureau I've hunted caribou in Nova Scotia, antelope in Wyoming, bears in New Mexico all the while being able to provide my family with a comfy home, relatively little debt, and the ability to retire as rather young man.

See,I didn't join the Bureau as some sort of ideological neurotic.I knew that it paved path to what I wanted outta life. Not that it would be my life. The Bureau has been the vehicle to my pursuits. As we speak, friends and I are planning a dive/spearfishing trip to the rigs off the Texas Gulf Coast.Once back, the wife and are going to head out for our own dive adventures.Living the dream, man.

The BOP has it's glitches, every agency does, you just have to weigh out what matters to you and take it from there. That's the essence of the American Dream.I'm getting to pursue mine, you need to figure out what your's is.

Good Luck....
