Graterford state prison, Graterford Pennsylvania. Largest prison in Pennsylvania. At its highest count, housed over 4,000 inmates. They no longer classify inmates here. Because of that, population has gone down. At the moment, population is just over 3,000 I believe.

My old jail is a state pen. Ya, them dam blocks are huge. Those 5 rows are main cell blocks. No joke, they are literally over 200 yards long(2 tiers). In the center, about 100 yards in, is where all officers would muster, change shifts etc. Not a secure area in the center either, just a bridge wide open, desk with phone etc. Each block has at least 500 to 700 inmates. Directly West of those main cell blocks were additional cell blocks. I think we had exactly 9 towers.. Great observation..

This is about the only pic I can find that's any good. This is mostly the max facility. The medium is shown in the upper right corner. We have 13 towers.
