I think you will find the consensus is that they freaked out when I lit up an inmate's ass in the office. I scared more newbies yelling at inmates than I can count. There were a few that needed hands on training, but it was rare. I've had dozens of staff tell me that I scared the **** out of THEM yelling at inmates. It's a tool and one of many, but I NEVER catered to an inmate - they got ONLY what policy said they get - nothing more - nothing less. If they cooperated, I did too, but they never were catered to by me!
Ok, my bad. I did not intend that to mean all LTs as I work with some good ones myself. I do apoligize to you for that. However, there are many out there that will make an officer look bad in front of an inmate, ive seen it happen and recently it seems to be getting worse.

I have no problem with inmates who behave themselves, respect staff and their fellows, show progress in their development, and they would get things like contact visits, lots of rec yard time, special programs, etc.

I have a real problem with inmates who disrespect staff and inmates, stay in SHU, do not program, and get everything handed to them like the inmates who comply.

Even if the complying inmates are faking it.

But if inmates who are deadbeats had nothing coming except three hots, a cot, medical care (and I mean the kind when you pay a real co-pay and deductable), and non-contact visits, we'd see a different population of inmates.

Re: I'll be brave...

Here I run my house if the inmate wants to see the LT I send some paper work ahead of him. If you got the right LT on he aint coming back. And I love it when a inmate says to me "you need to ...." you can probably guess what my response is. These thugs only show as much respect as you demand. There is a thousand ways to make a inmate have a bad day my favorite is to stop them and pat them down and if they have thier radio I'll take it if they are smart mouthed. I couldnt "read the reg #" so then I do a confication form and send it to the LT office then the inmate has to prove it is his. which usually takes about a week or so to get thier form 40 or a copy of thier reciept. But most of the time the radio doesnt belong to them or they have attached something to make it contraband. So I win. Just one of my tactics hope it helps dont see alot of officers do it here untili they see how good it works. yeah I know I would just as soon use the mag light but you do what you can.

I sure wish I could contradict that!!! But unfortunately you hit it right on the head, When we had the Cubans in the late 80's it was no holds barred. now you are guilty of violating an inmates rights first and must prove YOU are innocent and not that they were guilty!

I get sick of hospital nurses who think that thispatient(scumbag child molesting inmate)is a swell guy. we go to a hospital where the nurses told u th coffee was for tere staff an patients. the inmates could have some, but we can't. but the other nurses said that was a crock. this same nurse was trying tocatch us sleepin all night. i finally told her listen lady you ain't going to catch me. i'm to good at that. an if you think this fine inmate is such a gem how about letting him babysit your kids. she didn't say anything. i talked to hr supervisor wth her there. the supervisor and myself agreed that is would be much better if she jut did her job an left us alone. come to find out suprise surprise she had a relative in the pokey.

Took one to the hospital in Oklahoma city. This dude drank some bad Hootch, and swelled up real bad.. He could breath in , but his air would not come out. The hootch was made from tomatoes in a metal can. He got Botchuaism??( Can't Spell a lick)
Any way the P.A. was bagging this fool as we were getting him on the ambulance.
When we got to the Hospital, a nurse thought we thumped the fool.. This happened shortly after that Trenadue dude dided at the FTC.. Hey, Shakedownshortie, wasn't me & you in control that nite?
