Employees and offenders assigned to community corrections may possess and use tobacco products, as long as they use the tobacco products in a designated area. Designated smoking areas will be established that are at least 25 feet from an entrance or exit to a building or to any air intake.

Sounds good to me. As this will take a load off of us security wise.

I read the OP, it surprises me to say the least. So correct me if I'm wrong, community corrections can use tobacco and minimum and above can use it if they are assigned to the admin building? So employees outside of admin can't smoke? Or is the admin building going to be a popular place? I think they need to be one way or the other, I can hear the complaints now......ugh!

I know this Op has changed the policy were we are.. Officers and staff can now sit in their own personal vehicles and smoke (such as.. H unit parking lot).. however.. the trick is getting through control to get to your vehicle!

Employees at NOCC are allowed to go sit in their vehicles and smoke.

Well this is great for those that smoke. What about the officers that work on the units? Who is going to give them a break so they can go smoke for 10-15 min every couple of hours like the non-uniform staff get to do?
