At Talladega, until recently when they started putting #2's in the units on E/W it was 1 officer for 208 inmates or more when they are 3 to a cell!!

Our units are divided in half with a hallway between them.

You make rounds on one side, the other side moves it contraband/fights/tears stuff up/ what ever they want to do.

On the top of that we are told to stand on the porches during the open moves and have to remain there until the move is over...

Uhhhhhhh who is watching the inmates IN the units??

At the camp tonight it will be1 officer for 374 inmates...

And with their standard reply when you want to beef something up...

"It's ok, they are just campers..."

Thanks for the slideshow of the funeral.

I have to ask: why was there a "VIP tent", with Maldonado front and center? I saw lots of staff and family standing out in the sun, while visiting RDs and other staff pukes stood in the shade.

Typical Bureau.

Can't wait to get home tonight so I can see it. The computer I am on at the hospital will not let me see it and I brought the old laptop for the hotel room and it is just too slow to try and watch it.

They do not care who is watching the inmates in the unit, as long as you look like you are doing your job on camera.

They say the same thing at the Low, but fail to tell anyone on the "outside" that we are warehousing usp inmates at the Low. Oil and Water.

What cameras?

Cameras? We don't have no stinking cameras....

They are only in seg, C-Bldg (where staff come in and out, one aimed at camp control and the rear gate....

That's it.

Quick answer to standing the door during movements. You are there to stop contraband from coming in. Also to make sure no inmates come in who do not live there. If your on the door shake 'em down, going in and out! Ask them where they are going. Shake ones down who are going past your unit. Also if you can see the other unit officers at their doors then at least once an hour we know all the staff are alive and breathing! There are reasons for some of the things which seem stupid.

I'm regularly the only officer (or any staff for that matter) with anywhere between 160-230 inmates. They don't lock in their cells either. Wide open. They wonder why I'm so damn jumpy. Not to mention the meds....

I got that one already off the board...I am talking about the one that was being played during the reception after the graveside services. It was a collage slideshow of pictures of Officer Rivera.

I can't believe that you don't have cameras on the rec yard or compound.
