darkman most of the people i know who were at, or came from marion ,were late seventies ,and early to mid eighties vintage.i still find it hard to believe that marion and leavenworth are fci's, but i guess if you can't run of the homesteaders the next best bureau trick is too get rid of them through budget cuts and bop needs...,

I sent the letter with just a couple changes. I added the suggestions from Darkman regarding taking a bill to the floor. I also added that I have a daughter and son-in-law also working for the BOP. (Cripes, I help get my daughter a fairly safe job at an FMC, then she transfers to an FCI. Thank goodness I know she's got some wonderful staff to keep an eye on her.)

Anyway guys, it's time to send letters to anybody you can think of. Senators, Congressmen, Newspapers. We need to get the word out that enough is enough! I can understand the younger officers not wanting to put their necks on the line by writing. It's up to us seasoned (older than dirt) staff to do it.

I agree, leave it to us has been's (LOL) and those with too many years in to care what the administration thinks.
I'm working my letter out now... I'll post it when it's done.

This is the outcome of years of ignoring and neglecting the REAL problems the bop is having. Now some young 22 years old rookie officer paid the ultimate price. This is the outcome when you have incompetent people running this agency. This is the outcome when idiots up in central office or wherever the hell they are sitting behind some desk, begin making decisions on what they think will or will not work. Never mind the input from good Lt's and real officers that are day in and day out in the units, compounds and in every hell hole the bop has to offer. We see what's goin on, but the adm. is to busy worrying about saving money. Keep worrying about wax and paint and making sure the inmates get late night, because God forgive us if they miss the NBA finals or any other major event. Never mind about all the cell phones, drugs, shanks, pills and every other illegal activity that is happening in every institution. Let's keep running the shifts with the minimum amount of staff and no elevators and no A/C, like we are down here in MDC Guaynabo for the past three weeks and see what's gonna happen. My deepest condolences to Officer Rivera's family.rest in peace my brother. Stay up and watch your back.

well said glkforty probably the best solution would be to send all the politicans and bop bosses into all the various usp fci fcc mcc and lock them in with all the darling inmates and tell them to f-f or hit the fence!!!

I've written my Reps/Sen and have noticed you listed his girlfriend expecting a child soon. I posted on the other thread before it closed, it would be a nice idea to look at setting up a Educational Fund for the child. If we could raise $5,000 an invest it in the childs name; we'll have paid for his/her college. Something we could think about at least.
