Democratic National Convention

So now that the DNC is over, I have to say I wasn't really impressed. As an independent voter (admittedly I do lean to the right) I was looking to see what they were bringing to the table this year.

The first three days of the DNC were dominated by the Clinton's and I am definitely not a fan of theirs. At least Bill Clinton gave a good speech and I almost believed that the two of them were really supporting Obama. Almost.

The highlight was supposed to be Obama's acceptance speech, but I wasn't impressed with him at all. It was just another stump speech and nothing that was going to persuade any independent minded voter into his camp. I am sure that loyal Democrats thought it was brilliant, but I guess that I expected more from someone that is supposed to be convincing me that despite his lack of experience he is a good choice.

I have this strange feeling that the RNC won't be much better, but hopefully they will at least have the good sense to talk about themselves and not constantly try to bash the opposition.

The Republican convention in Ohio today looks to be much more energized. And the crowd is much younger than the old, worn-out clowns populating Denver's DNC yesterday.

With Sarah Palin as the VP candidate, Rove may have, once again, outfoxed the DNC.

I had never heard of Sarah Palin until this morning. I'm really excited by what I saw of her and heard about her, what she stands for and her family story. Things just got alot more exciting!

It's hard to believe any Democrats could actually believe what the Clinton's had to say about Obama. Wasn't long ago they were saying how unqualified he was for the job. John Edwards was supposed to speak, but since he had an affair and lied about it, they replaced him with Bill Clinton. I guess Edwards didn't have enough affairs and lie under oath about them to speak at the DNC!

I totally agree. I was very re-energized about McCains camp after seeing Palin this morning. She's 100 times more personable than Clinton and she just seems real. Clinton is as phony as they come. I think McCain just sealed the election by picking her.

Re: Democratic National Convention

I've been telling people for months that Palin would be the best person that McCain could choose for VP. She is conservative enough to appeal to the base of the Republican party and personable to sway Independents. She also has high opinion rating in Alaska, which is good for a Governor that has bucked the system.

I am very much looking forward to the VP debate and I am curious how Biden will handle her. One of McCain's greatest strengths is debating and impromptu venues so I think he will destroy Obama once the race gets that far.

I was also impressed that they did not once mention Obama or make any attacks during her speech today. It was classy and kept the focus where it belongs.

Re: Democratic National Convention

I think she is going to do VERY well for the Republicans...

I just read up on her, I had supported Ron Paul. I was not going to vote for McCain or Oblama.

However, with her on the ticket I will reconsider, she seems like a down to earth person.

I found this, It is great! Sounds like something some of us may consider...

Family and personal life

Palin's husband, Todd Palin,[70] works for BP energy corporation at an oil field on Alaska's North Slope[71] and works as a fisherman in his hometown in the summers. Todd is a champion snowmobiler, winning the 2,000-mile (3,200 km) "Iron Dog" race four times.[3] Todd is one-eighth Yup'ik. The two eloped shortly after Palin graduated from college; when they learned they needed witnesses for the civil ceremony, they recruited two residents from the old-age home down the street.[3] The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 40 miles (64 km) north of Anchorage.

Re: Democratic National Convention

Yeah, she is easy on the eyes as well...

Reading over her personal life and accomplishments she seems to have her act together.

She is a HUNTER, and FISHES is a member of the NRA she seems to be a Tom Boy, in my book, that makes her A-OK!
