I'll also add, the only stuff usually on my person, except for stuff left in the vehicle for call out emergencies, is a weapon or two and credentials. That's it.
My thoughts exactly...might as well put a great big target under the words "Corrections Officer"..would only be useful to wear at work. You have to remember, in a prison town, all the convicts are locked up...the future convicts are still running around in town...one of the reasons I never wanted to work Front Lobby or Visiting, really didn't care to be identified as their daddy's keeper.

I can't count the number of incidents I can recall where staff has had run ins with convicts families at the neighborhood Vons or Albertsons.

I make tee shirts. One or one hundred (or more) for your department, etc. I can make this shirt for you, but it would be around $25.00 Paypal is accepted. Lemme know!

I'll agree with Hack and Bobshouse on this one. My department gives us a sticker (a sheriff's star with our department name on it) to put on our vehicle like the military puts on their vehicles, so that we can be identified by the outside roving patrol officers when we come onto the compound. So everyone now knows where I work when I go somewhere. Working county, we see alot come and go and making enemies is real easy if you do your job correctly.

Sorry to go off topic but I feel the saftey/security aspect of officers/future officers is more important in this case. Just my thoughts.....

Reading these makes me appreciate living in rural PA. Most of our crooks families return home to NY, Philly, or DC. Been hear nearly 17 years and have only ran into crooks families twice at walmart. Of course I don't wear a big sign that says where I work at either.

Not to sway away from your business brother....personally I have no problem with the T-shirts and all that jazz if worn in an official capacity.......but gear just for out and about isn't a good idea, for safety reasons...... just my opinion....which prolly doesn't amount to much. Sorry if its puttin a damper on business........

Re: Corrections Officer t-shirts

No damper. I am not here for my business. I am here because I am a CO from NJ who loves sharing ideas and stories with other CO's. The business is a side thing anyhow. Definitely not letting me retire. Anyhow, guys where I work like to wear shirts out and about for some reason. If they wanna wear them, thats their choice. I personally only wear corrections shirts to and from work.

There is alot to be said about wearing t-shirts that id as an officer off duty. I like some shirts that I have seen that are a little more suttle than a raid shirt. and a guy that sells from a local shop. 99% of the crooks that I run into out in town are pretty cool with me. I have made it a point to be firm and fare over my twenty years behind the wall.

Pride and Honor!

In case you are still looking, check out CafePress.com
They have everything about anything. I bought two raid style shirts there about a year ago.
