Re: Food for thought!
I totally agree.
Sometimes I don't feel like I am working in a prison- with all the "perks" I/M's have. It feels more like a controlled sleep away camp!!! Canteen, Special classes ( not talking about GED and things like that), Basketball/baseball tournaments, Holiday shows they put on, not to mention cable t.v. - s***, I don't even have cable t.v. (yes I know- dark ages). Plus all the other stuff. What really gets me going is when they complain at chow time. I am all for the food being edible, but when they bi*** about the amount they get- god how that pisses me off. Do you know at my Facility for Thanksgiving and Christmas they got big Turkey meals- I am all for celebrating holiday's, but they are in PRISON!!!!!! They are there for committing a crime- They need to be treated that way- NO PERKS!!!!! |

![]() We should be slowly taking their perks away from them. If we just up and took it all away, then there would surely be riots kicking off at a lot of facilities. Just as these perks have been given to them slowly over the course of the years, these perks should start going away at about the same rate. Eventually, they should get back to what prison was like in the early 1900s where inmates had nothing but a few books to read and three hots and a cot. My biggest complaint about the inmates is their "FREE" health care and dental care and the complete disrespect they show towards it. Whenever I'm on compound I see all sorts of half chewed up pills laying in the grass just off the sidewalk over by where our Health Service dept is. These meds cost the US taxpayers a fortune and these fuks don't even take the meds they're prescribe. And the scary part is that a lot of it is medicine that keeps them "level-headed"! I feel that the inmates should be working to provide all prison staff with free medical and dental since the US taxpayer has to provide them with free medical and dental. The BOP should impose a tax on the inmates that's rated on a certain amount based on the inmates wages to be used to provide staff with better equipment and better benefits. Also, I feel that direct family members of inmates should have to pay a much higher tax rate than the average American while their family member is incarcerated. Maybe some of these young thugs would think twice if they knew that ma and pa were going to have to suffer a bit as well during their stay! Then I feel that ex-cons, and for people with anything more than a misdemeanor on their record, should be paying higher taxes than the average American for the rest of their lives. This might help to deter young people from looking at crime as a future knowing that one day they may want to go legit and don't want to have to pay so much on taxes for the rest of their living days. Finally, I think that foreigners that come to this country should have to pay higher taxes than the avergage American for a minimum of 5 years before their taxes drop to the rates of an average American. |
