Re: Hiring Process - Weeks or Months?

Look everyone, don't stress. If you are intelligent you will do fine. As with all of my advice I give to you new jacks I only speak from my experiences with NCDOC. When I applied, I put down ONE facility. Now, I work at that facility and I am a certified correctional officer. Be confident in yourself, and be patient. Being patient is a very good quality to have as a CO. As I have said, I only talk about my experiences; but the officers, sergeants, LT's, and my Captain on my shift and the others not on my shift are my family. We are all in a dangerous profession, but if you end up in the S@*T you better believe that the rest of us are right there with you. Thats corrections, it's a family and there's no other feeling like it. Good luck to all of you, and I hope (and with talking with many of you, you are all very intelligent and have your minds in the right place) that you will join the NCDOC family. If you have any questions about the job, feel free to private message me. As I have said before, I can only speak how things are done at my facility as things are different with every prison.

Be Safe

Zmurphy, sounds like you're going to the Oral Board Interview next.

The DOC figures speak for themselves with regards to turnover.
I'm surprised your testing site had a low turnout - 12 applicants!
I tested in Whiteville NC, with over 50.

Good luck CarolinaCorrectionsGirl & Zmurphy

Even though I'm from the Central Region, I was able to attend BCOT in the Western Region at Crossnore. You western officers have great instructors over there.

Re: Hiring Process - Weeks or Months?

I'm still waiting to get hired, I had to call and get put back on the morganton rosters, if they didnt hire you last year you have to call them and they have to call the main office and say its ok, Whats the point of waiting a year if I have to do all of this?
They also told me they have a long waiting list so i dont know when I will hear from them.
