Hello I Am Currently A Nys Peace Officer/nypd Special Patrolman Working In Nyc,,,,i Took The Nysco Test In April And I Am Scehduled To Take Pyshc Test July28th,,,,i Am Already A Registered Officer So I Am Sure My Process Will Go Thru Quick,,,,,,a Couple Of People From My Command Is In The Albany Academy Already Or Getting Ready 2 Get Called,,,,,i Just Want To Be Ahead Of The Game So Hopefully Some Of You Knowlegdable Nysco Can Help Me.....i Read All The Posts And Threads From This Site And The Other Site,,,,,i Live In Nyc,,,,how Likely Is It That I Will Get Albany Academy,,,,,sing Sing (ojt) And Is There Currently A Long Waiting List For Facilities In The 5 Boroughs......and In My Position,,,we Cannot Carry On Our Shields,,,we Have To Get A Nypd Permit So We Can Carrry Put Only On The Job,,,,,,how Long After The Academy Are U Allowed To Obtain A Personal Protection Firearm For Off-duty??? Do U Have To Pass Probation 1st???? I Know You Submit A Form To Nys Police ,,,,but How Long Is The Wait For The Form To Be Approved???? And Do U Still Have To Obtain A Permit Form Where U Live Also To Carry Concealed ,,,becasue I Live In Nyc And Its Different From Nys Counties

The day you graduate from the academy you are a Peace Officer and can go buy your weapon. You may have to wait a few days to pick it up though, until your c-form approval comes back. You will not need a permit to carry, you will be able to carry nationwide on your badge.

Thanks Co1989......i Know I Will Be Coming To You For Alot Of Info ,,,,if It Dosent Bother You .....i Know People That Have Gone 2 The Academy ,,,,some Say They Put In There C-form After The Academy,,,,,,some Say They Wait Until 1year Probation Is Up,,,,,,what Do The Bosses Or Veteran Offeicer Like Your Self Advise ,,,,i Am Already Proficient And Professional With A Firearm,,,safety Etc.....i Just Dont Want To Know Whut Do Most New Co's Do So I Be On The Same Page,,,,,not 2 Fast Not 2 Slow,.....but Definately Be Able To Protect My Self And Family ,,,,,,and If I Got To Albany Academy,,,,how Likely Will I Get Sing Sing For Ojt,,,,iwant To Be There Its Close To Me,,,,,or More Importantly How Hard Is It To Get 2 A Faciltiy In Nyc 5 Boroughs...whaut Is The Waiting List Like
