Union Contract?

Hi all! Just figured I would start a thread about the ongoing(?) union contract. Let's see, the old(new) one expired on March 31, 2007 right???

Can someone shed some light on what the steps are, or what we should start to hear about soon, or whatever? If there is one thing about NYSDOCS that stumps me, it is the union. Our reps. have been very silent (inactive??) at each facility I have been at. I mean, I know of only one at Willard. I have no clue who our facility union reps. are?? Is that normal???

Re: Union Contract?

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha contract? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Look for one in about 3 years, son! Welcome to working for NYS. They pushed us 4 years last time, just to see how long they could do it. Wouldn't surprise me if it was the same this time around. But the again I'm a cynical old fart that's been getting screwed by them for more than 18 years now!

Re: Union Contract?

LOL! Thanks for the positive reply! Yes, I am sure that I will be without a contract for a few years. But I really do like the big retro checks that come with the foot-dragging!! I think by the time we see our next set of retro checks, I will be able to use them to take kid(s) on a vacation! (NOTE: I do not have any kids right now. Just showing you how long I think our contract will take to be signed!)

Re: Union Contract?

Can you PLEASE explain to me why we had to vote on an already expired contract with no money involved ??? Why couldn't we just continue with the OLD contract until we negotiated a new one? Things that make you go hmmmm.
