Just crazy, help growing up on the streets of Chicago. I had 9 investigations on me my last year from swearing out inmates, Capt AW & wardens (that was me) work place violence (threatning) failing to co-operate with an investigation (refused to talk to OI). One of the wardens told me he was going to have me investigated every chance he could. Little did he know that, I was past my retirement date and my papers were filled out. 3 weeks later I retired. Told the Warden investigate this on the way out the front door. Trina made me go to my retirement party. What a bunch of hippacrits. Talking nice and $hit. I'm not bitter at the BOP, made a good living, took care of family. Bitter at the a$$ holes that screwed a good thing up over the last few years. I'll stand next to any staff member that does their job and I trust. Key word is Trust, which brings respect.

TC, you are too much! Yeah BOP Steward and I are good to go.

I do remember talking to you after you received the Bennet award, you got huevos of brass and it helps if you are a lil crazy!

That's one thing I was taught and taught you. We look out for the staff on our shift and go home safe. But we gotta have a lil fun in between.

My partner was Bob Smeltzer, we just looked for stuff to get into in the E/W. We worked together for a couple of quarters till the new kid captain we got figuered out we were doing our job. We had it so tights inmates would walk into the Lt's office and see me and Smeltzer and walk right back out, they had lil coming!

The BOP was good to me, but man those no balls administrators is what made it tough. I lost count how many times I was investigated in my last year!

Yes the Lt's leashes are too tight, they are also afraid to make a decision due to not getting backed. U can't run the prison from the office. Control the inner compound you control the instituion. If something breaks out it will be contained on the rec yard or a housing unit. I heard the Capt at the Med had to come in at 3 in the morning to supervise the floors being waxed for Harley next week. Man I'm glad I retired at 51. Don't get me wrong the BOP feed my family etc. It's the new Admin from Harley down who have screwed everthing up. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

The sad thing is, I do remember everything you and John said to me. I say sad because no one, LT, has said it since you guys left. The new Lts sit around and read all day, policies and CSM, etc. They are still trying to learn their job. Some of them actually do know what they are doing, but I think the leashes are so tight, they can not get off the porch.

That is crazy that Mike's Dad trained you, and you trained Mike, so in essence Mike's Dad trained Mike. It is truly a small world. My borther in law is the FSA at Victorville, he left Atwater a week before Ofc Rivera died, but he has been to several joints in the BOP and everytime someone transfers in to coleman, they look me up and say, hey your brother told me to get with you. I guess that is how networking works.

Working on staying off my knee, ironic though had I spent time on them, I may have been promoted by now, lolol. I go Thursday to find out what is up with it. I have mixed emotions about the diagnosis. On one hand, I am young, and have half my life ahead of me, and am a paralegal, so if I had to hang it up, I would not cry too much. Then on the other hand, I do enjoy getting screwed over at every corner, bumped on promotions, and screwed out of qsi's, wait I am try to say how I would love to stay at the job, hmmm.

In the long haul, if I do 30 yrs, I get 44% with FERS. If I had to take a disability retirement, it would be 40%. And I would not have to do the 30 years, and would only lose 4%. But I am sure at my age, I could find something to do to make up the difference. So, I have been looking at my options. I also have people at other joints, that I am in contact with, that are helping me with my options. So that is nice.

I will let you know what happens on Thursday. Also, I meant to say something the other day, you have been retired for a little while now, and you knew about Mike and I, and most of the people we work with everyday still don't know. I just thought that was interesting.

Hey topcat, thanks for talking to this rookie (only got 15 in). Practical jokes is a way to see if rookies have what it takes and the jokes also lighted it up for all that are on shift. Miami had some very high profile inmates back at that time. It is a shame that this is the only way us current hacks can hear about what it was like back in the day from the vets. How much were you asking for FCC Miami? I got to ask about that one bad night in Miami, what happened?

Hey Big M. u know I don't give credit out easily. agree to disagree is BOP hacking. We use to take it to the flag pole or into the pipe chases, now the just whine or file. We delt with the horses a$$'S inthe past practical jokes etc. U and I would be duing street time for the things we use to pull.
Here is a good one!!! I got one day on the street for calling an inmate a piece of $hit. The inmate didn't tell a staff member told. I knew the inmate at 3 joints. The inmate told the investigator, if he didn't cuse me I think he's made at me. I knew it was time to retire.

crayers You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. Frank Zappa
