I'm here. Seeing a lot of good stuff. Really love the Buddy/Ignore List option. Wish we had that at correctionalguild.org.

That would have been sweet to block a couple users, like heywood and doublevision.

Gary D. Maynard was Director of the Oklahoma DOC when I worked there in the early '90s. I see that there's a link to his ACA President campaign on the Guild site. I hear that Mary Livers is working for Maryland DOC too. What do you all think of her?

Re: check-in

There is word that she is behind attempts to nudge MD toward privitization. There have also been a lot of ACA American Correctional Association (ACA): Home people in the admin ranks in MD. Personally, I see ACA as a money grab. It costs thousands of dollars to get a facility accredited, it costs an individual hundreds of dollars to be accredited. Kinda like scientology.
But I must credit Maynard with shutting down the shethole Maryland House of Correction.
Last July Ofc Mcguinn In Memory of David McGuinn was murdered in the House. This spring another officer was attacked but survived. That triggered the closing of the 130 some year old faciliy. Before it was shut down, contraband interdiction teams from other facilities statewide were tearing the house up. Dozens of cell phones and shanks were found. Even a few commercially made hunting knives were found. Some of contraband was found in a ceiling panel. The next day the same area was searched, and more contraband had already found its way back in. A couple female COs got fired for attempting to smuggle in items while this mass shakedown was in progress!
High turnover and corruption were a serious problem at the house, and I hate to say they continue to be problems at other facilities, especially those in central MD.

Wow.. your state should take notice of what happened with the privatized juvenile facilities and learn from previous mistakes.

Does anyone remember hearing about CSC/YSI Charles Hickey facility and it's eventual demise? I used to work for YSI and while the whole company sucked after being bought by CSC/GEO the things that happened there were even worse than the rest of the facilities.

Mary Livers & Gary Maynard didn't get where they are for being courageous and independent thinkers. That you can take to the bank.
