Re: new to ncdoc question

Where are you going to work at in NC? I will be starting back at Black Mountain Corr. Center after a long time away. When I first started you were given 3 uniforms. You must get the patches sewn and pants hemed yourself and your expense. You will have to buy a name badge. Good luck and be alert at all times. E-mail and let me know what unit you will be working at.

Be sure to get you a big enough pouch to carry surgical search gloves in..
A mini mag lite, is a must.

Re: new to ncdoc question

I've been with the NCDOC almost a year now. I recommend a duty belt for your keys, baton ring (if your at a medium & up, custody level institution), glove holder, handcuff holder, O.C. holder, and a micro flashlight with holder.

Patches? I'm not sure which uniform you got since my unit went to the Navy uniforms. But unless you are a sergeant and needed the triple chevron patch (aka the buck sergeant chevron patch) on each sleeve, or a PERT patch on one sleeve instead of the NCDOC patch on each sleeve, I'm fuzzy on what else needs to be sewn on.

Re: new to ncdoc question

By the by, I would defer to forum member, sort2000, as the expert on NCDOC if you have some questions. Obviously as NCDOC SORT he has probably been with the department at least 5 years, probably also a PERT member and has spent a lot of time in a Icon, Mcon, Hcon dorm at a Close custody facility.
