Re: Armed Escort Training
Laugh while can...Had mine repaired on the 8th....That's why I'm spending so much time here....Can't get away from ya'll. Go back on the 28th, may get released to light duty....we'll see. So many bang-ins, I'm sure I'll have a spot somewhere....

Re: Armed Escort Training
Is it a lower hernia? Did they use the mesh?

Re: Armed Escort Training
You're right on. Good old Inguinal hernia. Yes, the messed it...I read where you said you would have a two week vacation....more like three, and then you might get released to light duty...unless your Doc is way dif then mine. My goodies had not yet fallen into the inguinal canal....they say that's worse.
Nice scar, though. Dang thang was I was in to have my knee worked on when they found it....Hurt, but I looked the other way. Don't recommend that to anyone...If it don't feel right. Go have a Doc push and tug. |

Re: Armed Escort Training
Nice.
My surgeon told me that I would be restricted to lifting no more than 20 pounds for two weeks. After that he said I could do anything I wanted and it wouldn't hurt the surgery. Whether I would feel like doing anything or not is a different story, he said... |

Re: Armed Escort Training
That's kinda what my Doc said, but the lifting no more than 15-20 lbs for two weeks was after the three weeks sittin' at the house....If my check up is good on the 28th, 20 days after the operations, then I have at least two weeks light duty....It's been 12 days and I have no prob moving around and really haven't had after about the 5th day...Just can't move fast and getting in and out of bed takes a little pratice....Hope you have big chair...you won't want to lie flat for a couple of days.

Quote:
The training course was started after Officer Miller was murdered on a medical trip at USP Lewisburg. Rest in peace. I remember when it stopped as well. Someone up top said the program cost to much money so they moved it to the institutions. The training held at the joint is a joke compared to the training held at Marana. There was nothing like driving like a bat out of hell, then doing J turns and bootlegs. The Witsec program in Artesia was almost as good as armed escort training . Not sure how the Witsec program is now since I haven't taught it since Artesia closed down in 2002. |

Re: Armed Escort Training
Through everything the Bureau has done, I think this is one that we need again. These escort teams need more training. Uniformed training.

Re: Armed Escort Training
The classroom/practical exercises is not enough. The part that is troubling to me is the fact that so many people who sign up for BPT-(armed) think that they will breeze thru the firearms portion of the class. We just finished 3 classes in two weeks with approximately 60 staff completing the classroom part. More than half did not pass the firearms portion even with 5 to 6 "re-tries" on the firearms qualifications portion. This included different segments of refresher training dealing with trigger control, sight alignment, etc. The actual class does not officially include any part regarding how to shoot. You are expected to have some basic skills in marksmanship.
If it is to remain at the institution level, there should either be an additional day added just dedicated to firearms marksmanship or staff who have no clue about firearms needs to stop signing up for it just for the easy overtime they could get.
