Armed Escort would be a welcome course of instruction to be brought back. Additionally sending staff to courses such as those offered by Gunsite, EAG, Yavapai Firearms, Blackwater Training Center or other reputable training organization would be a step in the right direction as well.
I have spent my own money on Blackwater, PGPFT, and Louis Awerbuck, and it was money well spent.

It took me 10 minutes but I finally stopped laughing. (IOWA DOC disclamer.....we also have a 3 week Academy....oh sorry its now the Learning Center)

If the training was free.....the state of Iowa would not send someone because it would cost us to travel to the site of the training and cost us OT to replace you on the roster.

The above training is very expensive as you well know since you spent your own money to go. Therefore......not going to happen!

For shooting from other that static positions, IPSC or IDPA are good venues which teach movement, accuracy and speed.

Formal Courses of instruction are good from a civil liability perspective. Getting outside instruction shows that you are not just ingraining bad habits.

For the folks in CA I forgot to mention ITTS. I have not trained with Scott, but he is a recognised expert on lethal force in CA and Federal Courts.

Me too. Except I can't laugh for ten minutes because I have to have a hernia repaired next Monday.

But I would laugh if I could! The BOP would much prefer that we chase a thug down and give him a blowjob rather than a 9mm bullet center-mass.
