Pepper Spray Comparisons
Been sprayed with First Defense, Punch II, and Mace-brand OC. Had "indirect contact" (thank goodness!) with Fox 5.3 (which is my street-carry). Any one have any ratings on SHU, other than the Fox (which has it in its name).
The Mace OC was hot; the Punch was hot. The First Defense didn't seem quite as bad, but that was an accident from another CO, and the adrenaline was going during the incident. Just trying to get an idea of what's "hotter" than the others (other than the Fox, of course!) |

Re: Pepper Spray Comparisons
As far as I know, Fox is the hottest on the market right now. Top Cop is just a step below Fox, but extremely effective. Makes your skin feel like a lit match is burning your skin.

Re: Pepper Spray Comparisons
According to the staff (and inmates) who received it, the Top Cop was "no joke". We were told that it was 2-2.5 million SHU, vs. the 1.5-2 mill. that I was taught as being the rating for Mace when I was an instructor. Doesn't really matter, I'm just more curious as to what people use, and what works (especially on "frequent flyers"). It ALL kicks my tail! LOL.

Re: Pepper Spray Comparisons
Personally I'm a ALS Top Cop fan I've had 3 level ones with it. Everytime it seems to get worse. They only use Habanero peppers grown in India In top cop It reminds you your a moron for a couple of days. I had to use it on an Inmate in the chowhall a couple of months ago.Right as he got hit the fight was over.He went right down. I talked to the Inmate the next day in segregation and he said that was the worst s*** he has ever took.I agree Fox may be hotter but it decontaminates way faster than Top Cop at our facility we call Top Cop devils piss.

Re: Pepper Spray Comparisons
One of the inmates at CCA that got hit with Top Cop (according to one of the officers there) just stood and shook. 'Course, all he had on was skivvies and they used a MK9. This officer who told me the story said that he spoke with the inmate the next day, and the guy said that he was only expecting what used in Cali., and that this stuff was bad! Fox was designed to decon fast. I've only had it via aerial contamination and it felt worse to breathe than the First Defense. I guess we should use Fox for training, and really suffer than, but decon faster, and save the slightly milder, but slower stuff for the I/M's? :0
Haven't been hit with Sabre Red, but apparently that's what AZ DOC uses, so it'll only be a matter of time. |
