Worst in the BOP

If you are already a supervisor and you are reading this post, remember, no matter what you do, someone that works for you is gonna be mad. If supervisors were looking for friends, they'd be at the bar, at the church, at the little league game, etc., etc., etc. Prison - as a supervisor or a line staff member - is not a place you should be coming to make friends.

Everybody should be coming to work to do a job and the bottom line is supervisors are tasked with ensuring people do their jobs and do them the right way. With that said, if you don't like the way supervisors supervise, sign up for USAJOBS. Post a resume and put in for the job. Get a little taste of it for yourself - not just a temporary taste. Jump in with both feet. Regardless of what you think, it ain't as easy as it looks.

After reading JoseJohnson's original post - and the crawfish post he put out later after he figured out everybody had ciphered his real identity which wasn't hard considering everybody knows Officer Jose (I'll leave your last name off for your protection) lives with or at least used to live with Officer Johnson - all I have to say is this. If you want somebody to have your back, you want Garrow. If you want someone to hold your hand you don't. Look at the best of the BOP thread. The greats listed on there - Koehane, Gunja, Conner, they weren't hand holders either but like Garrow, when the feces hit the rotating blades, you wanted them to have your back. Garrow - an inmate lover - absolutely not.

But if it's right and the inmate's got it coming he'll make sure the inmate gets it. If it's not right or if the inmates don't have ot coming, he'll fight to the death to make sure they don't get it. It doesn't matter if he has to fight the lazy POS officer or the egomaniacal department head or exec staff. His bottom line is if it's right it's right and if it's wrong it's wrong. We all should be so objective. To the poster who said he'd be first in line to have Garrow's back, that line will be a long one because there are lots of staff who will stand with you.

To those at Pollock who need someone to have your back, I can tell you from experience, Garrow will be there whether he likes ou or not and he'll be the first one on the scene to save JoseJohnson if he needs it - even after his post. For those of you who have been around a while - I have 22 in - you may remember the old crusty Lieutenant who stayed on your ass to try to keep you from getting your stupid self killed. He didn't worry about you filing a grievance. He'd answer paper all day long as long as he managed to save you from yourself in the process. Garrow learned from those Lieutenants. Young staff should learn from him.

If you're looking for a friend, join a support group. If you want to go home after your shift, hope you have a Garrow or a Transou or a Rosiek around to bail your battleship mouth out of what you canoe hind end has gotten you into......

I don't know Garrow. But I do know that these monster paragraphs are more trouble trying to read than they are worth. After about the fourth line they all start to run together and I give up.

I don't know Garrow either. He could very well be the best thing since handcuffs. But... one of Garrow's backers mentioned a different former lieutenant as some kind of hero, while others of us know he's now a big fat zero.

This proves the point I stated earlier in this thread: just because Joe Schmoe was a stand-up, got-your-back guy way back when you worked with him, doesn't mean he hasn't turned into a sold-out, beat-down, punked-out piece of trash with his lips tightly affixed to some SES orifice.
