No cell phones, weapons, metals, personal cuff keys. Pretty much the usual. Everything must be brought in a clear or see-thru container. I got heckled by an Operations Lt over a nutri-grain cereal bar I had left over from shift because it needed to be unwrapped and in a ziplock bag. Funny though, how we had a vending machine IN the unit with the same things in them.

Re: contraband

Missouri has a pretty lengthy list of not allowed items, however, it varies by institution how well it is enforced. Sometimes it varies by the person being searched. Yes, that's right. Some searchers are not consistant. I am apparently well liked and trusted. That was even after I accidently carried my cell phone in and then turned around and reported it to the searcher and my boss.

I'm like that. I report myself. Saves someone else the trouble and probably a lot of times, my job.

I think it all depends on who is running the door. Supervisors have pretty much quit manning the metal detectors. Food has been a non issue but ipods seem to be a big deal.

Most times another Officer is running the xray, none of it taken to serious. Never had any problems with food items, or books as of yet.
