I was specifically told that it was not the Emi but was Mexican Mafia. The people that I talked too were equally as specific in making sure to tell me it was the Mexican Mafia, EME, not EMI. Dont know if that information is accurate but it was specific. Very Specific.

I guess we will have to wait for the guys from Three Rivers to Chime in on it. I am sure they will be doing some Mandatory OT for a few days but surely one will pick up the thread and get the whole story straight.

Exactly! It's amazing how many staff here STILL get the two confused. Emi are from the SA area and Eme is LA.

The inmates saw it on TV before we even heard about. 3 hours later we finally had a conference call, and were told to watch the hispanics for trouble.

What good does it do staff if the inmates are running around plotting and scheming, while we are going about our day like nothing has happened.

It is truly amazing that more officers dont get injured/killed working for the BOP. Guess we are lucky.

There will be no national lockdown, Im guessing, and definetely no lockdown at PEM. The BOP wants to maintain the illusion of normalcy. Cant punish inmates who werent involved. We cant be meanies.

USP Tucson here. We were locked down with an all-out brawl involving 60 black inmates from different factions (Vice lords, etc.) last night. Fight happened three parts of the Pen (Barber shop, one housing unit, and the indoor rec area). We received a bus from Beaumont recently, and that might have been part of the cause as well. +1 as one of those who heard it on the way home from the SCR Caucus. I heard it on the radio news at 1:00, after a leisurely departure from Marksville, and stopping for gas and lunch at Alexandria. I was a few miles north of Natchitoches when I bothered listening to the news.

I immediately called the other main carload of our folks, but they'd already heard it from the Bastrop crew.

For today's delicious irony: when the other carload got the word, shawnr73 (SCR Legislative Coordinator) called Phil G. (national legislative coordinator) and gave him the news.

Brother Glover was at that moment briefing some Congressmen about our budget and staffing shortages.

Lowry and Glover will be testifying before the budget committee next week. Gee, you think this will be added to their Huge Stack O' Reasons why we need more staff? Gee, one officer, two housing units, Paisas and Emi and shanks, oh my!

I'm just very happy that no staff were (allegedly) injured.

Eme has it's fingers in ever prison system in the western hemisphere. Any gang that represents a 13 in their names is tied to Eme. Hell, I booked an 18th Streeter with a Cali drivers license into jail, in Montana.

I've been sayin for a while now that this is what it's gonna take (unfortunatly) for the Bureau and Congress to open it's eyes, just like the times before. Memphis, Talladega and the 95 riots. Maybe they will open there eyes and say "oh sh't"! But even if they do it will last a few years and then back to skeleton crews for us. I just hope no staff get seriously injured before they realize it. What the h'll is wrong with people (managment and politicians) are they just stupid?!?!?!?!?! or what?

I will be very surprised to learn that there are EMEs in any federal prison in Texas who aren't locked up for their own protection. The EMI & TS are forces to be reckoned with, and they will not tolerate EMEs in their "homeland" anymore than the EME or Nuestra Familia will tolerate EMIs or the TS in California.
