Where's all the ammo??

My Dh calls me this morning and asks me to run into town to get some ammunition for the firing rane this afternoon. I head to WallyMart...they are out...I go to three other stores...they are out! When I say out I mean bare shelves out!

I finally find a store that hs some ammo. I ask the guy "Why is everyone in town out of ammunition?"

The guy says "You can thank our new president. If he has his wa this 16.00 box of ammo will cost you 80.00 after tax."

What the heck is up with that???????

He also said that a gun that is normally 300.00 would then be like 800.00!!!

So I bought all the rounds they had left.

I keep hearing rumors of this and other things to come, I just hope they dont end up being true!

What part of AZ are you in? Is this happening anywhere else around the country? Was that 9mm ammo?

The next time you guys go to WalMart just check the sporting goods for ammo stock and let us know here. I would do it but Wally World has not YET built a store over in Baghdad.

The ammo shortage has two causes: first, the fact that our armed forces are using up almost everything we can manufacture domestically, plus we're supplying so-called "allies" (said with a big eye roll). Those two things pretty much wipe out the 9mm, 5.56mm, 7.62x39, 7.62x54 7.62x51, and even .45 ACP supplies. This has been going on since 2002.

The second cause is stockpiling due to political fears (something I admit is justified). This has been going on for many months, almost a year now, since it became clear that McCain would be the GOP nominee and would almost certainly lose.

Don't buy ammo, buy reloading components. LOTS of them!

Went online and found more information about the whole Obama tax on ammo thing...It blows!

It s just a rumor right now, but I think people are reparing for it around here in case.

Yes, I am in AZ. I am in a bit of a rural area, so there are only so many places around here to get ammo.

The shelves were bare with any ammo here...I wanted 9mm, but everything was gone except for .22 and 12 gauge shells.

Basically what it sounds like to me is that Obama can;t take away our right to bare arms, s he is planning on taxing us so hard that it will be difficult for the average person to even be able to afford a gun.

According to the NRA, gun sales have gone up something like 800% this month.....sounds to me like instead of Obama making it harder for people, his plan will backfire and everyone scramble to stockpile guns and ammo now.

When are they gonna get it, it is not the people who go into the store and buy guns legally that are the problem...it is the ones who get them of the street...IMO putting this tax into effect would only escalate gun issues and not deter anything.

It's been very hard to find ammo in Oklahoma for months. .40,9mm,45,38 any type of pistol round. The last time I looked at Wal Mart they had one box 270 and one box of 300 mag. The only ammo they had plenty of was birdshot.

I was home (KY) in May/June and tried to find 9mm and .380 ammo. My wife and I happened to be traveling to see married kids, so I literally searched in THREE states (Kentucky, Arkansas and Georgia) and was lucky enough to find six boxes at WalMart in Little Rock. No .380 at all except at one gun store who was selling a $12 box for $22.00!!! Needless to say I didn't buy any .380 ammo.

I checked at least six WalMarts, seven or eight gun/sporting goods stores and two other big chain WalMart type stores. Six boxes was all I could find.

All the clerks were saying as soon as it hits the shelf it's GONE. I just happened to get lucky in Little Rock.

BTW the ONLY handgun ammo in stock was 22 Cal.

yeah that is the savior of America's idea around the gun ban...it is to make it so expensive that you can't afford it.....but i'm sure every criminal won't have a problem with that cause they will just steal it. so for all you who voted for this POS and you love you guns....you asked for it.

Congressional vote next year Ladies and Gentlemen. Be involved or be sorry that you didn't. I am not going to the extreme of telling you what party, as only you know your candidates. Personally, I will probably vote Republican straight down the line, because of the balance of power now favoring the left.
