Same here, and the bad thing is when a state does this they can pretty much do what they want to. We are way over taxed. Your punished in this area if you make a decent living because if the locals dont feel like they are getting enough of your money they just pass a new tax and nail you to the wall for it. They have even set guidelines that require us as federal employees to pay earlier than the rest of the community. Needless to say, I'm trying to transfer out of here.

"Commonwealth" is just a term that distinguishes how the politics and land ownership were originally set up. It confers no special status or sovereignty; KY, MA, VA, and PA are no different than the 46 "states" when it comes to interaction with the federal government.

Well I can speak for the BOP. We are concided Law enforcement officers not peace officer. We are authorized to carry off duty with our BOP ID's but the agency does not like the idea. Right now we are fighting to get Gun Boxes installed in all BOP facilities so we can store our weapons. They tell us we can carry but we can not leave our weapons in the car while we are at work what sense does that make when other agency's come on property lock the weapons in there trunks to meit does not make sense but than again what does in the goverment goes.

Generally NC Officers are considered Criminal Justice Officers. However, depending upon which statute you're citing at the time we may or may not be included as law enforcement.

Knowing some of the folks hired by NC I'd have to see some serious improvements and weeding out done before I could support any type of LEO status. The NCDOC keeps enough of a black eye as it is, I shudder to think what would happen if some of these people were given LEO authority.

Don't get me wrong, NC has some outstanding people working for it. Many are ex LEO and military. But we have an over abundance of stupid and corruption at all levels of this organization.

There is no legal difference between a Commonwealth that is a State and a State. I know you guys love to believe that there is, but I have to burst your bubble on that.

I lived in MA for seven years and wow to have two sets of laws with one contradicting the other was pretty wild.

Yes it would, but how about actually upholding the Constitution (right of the people keep & bear arms [it doesn't mention open or concealed, it should be your choice, though I am for open all the way & open carry in NC often]? It would save a lot of time & wouldn't need a new bureaucracy. Even though, we do have a Nationally accepted driver's license & I don't see how that's any different.

I understand that there is no difference between a state and commonwealth, but the state of MA sure makes you think there is.....I live in MA now and I agree with Juvie on this statement........
