AAAAHHHH Grasshoper....Though it may be written in black and white, it seldom is such. You have been selected not for what you do, as so much as how you do it. Those that praise you now, my certainly become negative forces in your future. Select your battles wisely. You and only you, know how far "you" may explore the boundries of the BOP rules with those under your care. Be quick and decisive with your actions. But, never rush to your death. As quickly as you instill your authority, remember you too, can retract with the same authority. Enjoy your interaction with people. Yes, inmates are people. You are in the people business and must take the good natured ones with the bad. Always keep your guard up and your feelings towards other staff and inmates on the "down low". Too much talking about either usually comes back to haunt the originator. Read and apply the Program Statements, Institutional Supps and local practices...You may very well be managing you own institution one day....Good luck, and have a safe flight.

I'm not so much pissing off the inmates that I'm worried about...they can kick rocks. It's the lieutenants that I'm worried about -- apparently it's getting under their skin that I'm making them work because I find stuff in almost every cell I search AND I'm actually writing shots. But I'm just doing what they told me to
Not all LT's get pissed about investigating shots. I love it when I get them for my CO's it tells me they are doing their jobs. Remember their are lazy folks in every rank and position. Keep up the good work and keep writing the shots. Hell come out to Ray Brook as well.

I hear you shortie when I was a co just starting out the inmates would ask me dont you ever sit at your desk and eat. I said no then you all may be getting away with something. You could find me walking and eating a sandwich in one hand and a dr pepper inthe other. lolololol Had LT at Bryan swore before he left he would find me sitting at my desk, he never did but i did love shining my flashlight at him from the second floor as he entered the housing unit. Some folks might know him LT Lytle, short blond headed guy, I think he went to either terminal island or lompoc.

Ha! Steve! Yeah...he and I work together here at Lompoc. He stays mostly at the low. That's a funny dude!

0_o That blows my mind.

Oh, and I had my office door jammed three times the other day for doing my searches. After the first time, I started shaking the entire unit (got through about 15 or so cells by the end of shift, too!), and they didn't like it so they jammed it again, so I told them if they wanted me out of the office so bad I'd be shaking them twice the next day, and they didn't like that either so it got jammed a third time. Then the Lt. told them if it got jammed again they would be locked down for the weekend.

Find out who the thugs are who are jamming your door. Then jam theirs' after lockdown. A couple of pencil shavings in the keyhole should be enough to keep them locked down for a while.

If no one will give up the culprits. Start your own trashcan fires and evacuate the unit after each one.

Then mention that you can hardly wait until Winter arrives... Whoops! That won't work. You're in Arizona!

Apparently the guy who was doing it got ratted out to the evening watch officer and was taken care of that shift.

Re: BOP Policy

Heck, here at LVN you can do all the shake downs you want. But, if SHU is full, they won't go there if you find a lockable offense item, i.e. white lightening. Sometimes, they actually have to do early release on those getting out anyway, to put in fresh offenders. (Full SHU happens pretty often here lately).
