You are correct as far as when I worked for county jail. If you lied, they would nail you for it. If you come clean, they would cover for you.
The FBOP does not work that way. If they just don't like you, you're getting nailed. Period.
We have had staff "come clean" thinking that they would be cut a break.
They didn't get a break and spent the next couple of years having an attitude because they got time on the street or got demoted down to being an officer.
I'm not saying lie, but don't think you'll get brownie points for being a man, doing the right thing, having integrity, or whatever you want to call fessing up to your sins.
