Also Who do I see about this at the office?

I am paying mine by the quarter presently, but it cost no differently than if you pay a quarter at a time, half at a time or the whole year. It does cost a little more for pay roll deduction. |

Re: Professional Liability Insurance
Perhaps your agency will back you for off duty carry. Ours has already said that they will not back us in off duty carry, that we are not to act in our official capacity; although they have given us permission to carry on our credentials. So, having coverage for off duty carry in my opinion is essential. However, as for the job, the US DOJ and BOP have already mentioned to us when I started on the job 12 years ago, (and I just had my 12 year anniversary), that if it wasn't in their best interest, we would have no back up. At the institutional level, if you had good officers, and administrative staff, you would probably have been OK, but those times are past. Most anything having to do with an investigation into staff conduct has to go beyond the institutional level now. So, yes it's important for both of those reasons alone to have some type of coverage outside of the BOP. The union can help you where possible, but there are sometimes things beyond their level that has to be dealt with as well.
