Re: What if an ex-inmate had a gun...

I had a few male inmates when I worked for the county who tried to scare me (individually) with "What would you do if I came to your house and knocked on the door?"

I told them "I'd shoot you".

They were shocked and asked me why and I told them "Because I didn't invite you over".

Now, I wouldn't really do that, but afterwards I heard I was too butch for them, so that was fine by me.

But seriously, I lived near several ex-inmates (all male) when I worked at the county jail and I had no problems with any of them.

And they all understood boundaries, that they were not people I would socialize with but I would be nice and say "Hi' and not front them out to their family if I saw them on the street.

I went to my local police department to pick up my concealed weapons permit.. I turn around and here is this inmate standing there looking at me.. He was on an outside work crew(min security) fixing up the inside of the building. He asked what I was doing there out of curiousity. I told him what I just got and smiled.. his reply... "oh sh!t, coffins packing heat now". When I went to work 6 hours later, the news had already spread up to my unit which is meduim security. news travels fast there I guess lol

You know he is a felon, he's not suppose to have any guns, can you arrest or do you have to call the police?

What if your out of cell phone signal range? (I'm in Alaska and 95% of this State is out of cell signal range).

What if the felon saw you and then started heading for this gun, can you blast him away and use the report you wrote saying he would kill you when he got out? or do you have to wait until the felon has the gun in hand and pointed at you?
well, in TX, we are not allowed to carry off duty. But I do have a dog that goes with me every where I go and is very protective. My wife has her dog as well that does the same, then my house is protected by my "Pack". So, let a ex-con try something, won't have to feed my dogs later, lmao!

See my "Pack" here.

I ran into inmates off duty when I worked in County in NH. They all knew that they messed with a CO it was the same charge as messing with a PO. Falls under
same charge and statue. Thank god for the "Live Free or Die" state.

while shoppin at walmart with my wife, an x inmate came up to me and started talking to me and i acted as if I didnt know him. I ask him what he had been in jail for and believe it or not he blurted out that he was a sexual preditor. LOL well all you great guys and gals be safe. I have a permit to carry. I believe that the patriot act mentions corrections officers under law enforcement since 9/11. might be worth checking into am not 100% sure.

That's what I'm sayin'... what you definitely DON'T want to do is leave the guy wounded... if you're gonna shoot someone to defend your life, you'd better finish the job. Nothing more sad and pathetic than a guy all hideously deformed... testifying against you! At least if he was dead you could embellish the exchange... ala... "I remember you, CO, I'm gonna kill you- I've got a gun right here and I'm about to shoot you" and then BLAM Done, dude!
