I still don't understand why the BOP refuses to install gunlockers for staff. Lappin came down here to Guaynabo and he took pic right in front of the gun lockers. Maybe he does't care about Guaynabo or what we do down here, but I'll tell you he didn't say anything. I think every institution will have gunlockers it's just a matter of time.

Re: Puerto Rico

That is a good question, Guaynabo has lockers but no one else in the BOP. How can they justify that. There is no way that is possible. Our union knows about the lockers in PR, but they are not worth anything.

Re: Puerto Rico

Something that alot of people just don't know the facts. When Guaynabo opened the then Warden, Larry Cox, he is retired now, had the gunlockers put in. He caught alot of slack from it. I worked at MDC Guaynabo for 7 years, as we had people working there that had conections with the Police dept. They helped you with the paperwork then to get the permits to be able to carry a conceal weapon. We all followed the rules, well most of us. The cost to a normal citizen was about $400 or more to get a CCW permit, and you had to have a damn good reason.

Being that Puerto Rico is such a small island just make the crime situation seem alot bigger than it is. But in reality it's no different than any other major city. In the 7 years while working in PR I only had to pull my gun out 2 times. Once to help a Police officer, and once when a guy confronted me in a parking lot at night, he was drunk and I difused the situation and left the area. But thank God I never had to use it. But it sure was good to be able to carry and not worry about being hassled.

Not if this new bill is passed and Lappin has 90 days to provide all us with storage capabilities, then we all that want to carry to and from work can and there will be no more problems. I hope!!!!!!
