LEOSA Doesn’t Exist,
at least that is what a Knoxville city police officer told a co-worker of mine when she pulled him over for speeding. To my understanding, when the Officer approached he informed her that he had a weapon in the car for personal protection. She then said fine I need to see your hands at all times and I need to see your permit and DL. He gave her the DL and told her that he has no permit due to LEOSA, and showed his ID. She then commenced to telling him that his ID meant nothing more than him being a POS CO, and there was no such thing as LEOSA. She then preceded back to her car. After a minute or two she comes back cussing him and calling him an Fing liar, and that she would have his job because, she called her brother that is an FBI agent, and a friend with the US Marshals, and a friend with the BOP, and they all said there was no such thing as LEOSA, that he was just trying to impersonate a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and she should arrest his a** right there. She said he was nothing but a POS CO, and to get the hell out of there before she arrested him, and she better never see him again or he is going to federal prison. He is writing letters to the city and sending them a copy of LEOSA and asking for them to pull her dashboard cam. I say we all write letters.

If the tapes don't "disappear" then that cop is BURNT. Foul language-check, not knowing jack about laws-check, treating fellow LEO like crap-check.....Yeah she needs a new job, post haste.

Her action speaks for itself. I wouldn't care if she called her brother's friend, that lives across the street from a guy, who knows a lady, that has an uncle, whose cousin , on his mom's side, is the Chief of Police of the city two counties over.

If there was no LEOSA, she would have arrested him. Apparently, she's the idiot. LEOSA is protection for her as well.

You're saying that she called an FBI Agent, a US Deputy Marshals AND a person from the BOP within one or two minutes? Why would a police officer need to call anyone outside her supervisor on a job related question? They all encouraged her to arrest him and she STILL let him go? Does she have all these people on speed dial? How was she able to walk to her car, call, fully explain the circumstance to each one, and then make it back to him in the alotted time?

Since when does carrying a weapon become an automatic federal crime? Why would he go to federal prison? Since when does a police officer dictate what charges the DA, if any, pursue? Not to mention what the AUSA or judge may do!

Why would we write letters? Sounds like she abused her color of authority. Could there be a larger piece of the puzzle that your co-worker has left out?

Glad it wasn't me. I'm hard headed enough that I would have encouraged her to arrest me, after she threatened to do so, just to prove her wrong and shove her statements up her a$$. Then go after the city!!!!

I will. He is contacting the city, and very respectfully asking them to view the video. He has also sent a memo to the warden because she told him that she would absolutely be calling the FBI and letting them know how he trying to impersonate a federal LEO while only being a POS CO.
Also want to add. I know this guy well. He would never try to play cop, or even use his ID to get out of a ticket or anything like that.

She can call whoever she wants. The FBI will probably educate her silly ass. If he wasn't arrested or didn't receive a ticket in excess of $150 there is no reason to bother the Warden about it.

BTW, there is no duty under LEOSA to inform an officer that you are carrying. If they don't ask, don't tell.

The moral of this story is, when in Knoxville, TN should you see a city cop getting her ass kicked at the side of the road, keep driving. She probably has it coming anyway.

LMAO, good point. He was only letting her know as a courtesy, he though he was doing the right thing. In addition, the reason for the memo is because she told him she was calling his institution as well and she would try to have his POS CO job. That’s about all I have on it, but when I hear anything else I will try to keep you all updated.
