Federal Bureau of Prisons & LEOSA
Here's the official guidance by the agency along with the LEOSA of 2004 and the Attorney General Opinion stating that BOP staff are covered by the law.

Re: Federal Bureau of Prisons & LEOSA
At the 2007 National Conference for CPL 33, we were told that FDC Hawaii tried to jam up a staff by saying he wasn't law enforcement. They fought it, and won. The BOP had to admit that we are law enforcement in a court of law. The staff member had even served jail time over the whole thing as Hawaii has very strict gun laws. So if any federal prisons have trouble with LEOSA, contact the CPL33 National.

Re: Federal Bureau of Prisons & LEOSA
The BOP wants me to carry on a Concealed Weapons Permit.
I say, "NO BLOODY WAY!" The reason I say that is because, under LEOSA in my State no business or private entity can restrict an "Active" LEO from carrying a weapon. Active is defined as currently employed, not on duty or off duty. I think the "Burro" needs to pull it's cranium out of it's rectum and see some sunlight and realize that we ain't the same "Club Fed" that we were twenty years ago. Biker |

Re: Federal Bureau of Prisons & LEOSA
My bitch is when I lived in Pennsylvania in the mid-1990's, I could get a concealed weapons permit just as an honest citizen for 5 years for 25 dollars. Here in Texas, the cowboy state, you need to take a class and spend, I last heard, like $150.00 for a permit. I don't have a need for LEOSA right now, but if I ever feel the need due to bad neighbors or a crazy stalker, I'll use it to carry.

Re: Federal Bureau of Prisons & LEOSA
I qualify yearly at ART.
That's what we got at Glynco. "We prefer that you carry on your Concealed Weapons Permit if you can get one." Not bloody likely. Like I said, LEOSA allows me to carry in more places in this state than a CCP does. I will carry under LEOSA wether the Burro likes it or not. |

Ignore them. They hate LEOSA.
But, depending on which state you are in, there may be advantages to having a CCW anyway. I live in Missouri and wouldn't be without a CCW. |

Evidence the certain of the BOP heirarchy would rather leave us hanging in the breeze when doing a self defense shoot.
