Yeah. There has to be an Institutional Supplement.

Securin your weapon in your vehicle is great, but what about the people that ride motorcycles? with gas prices as high as they are, more and more people are riding bikes. so that means that lockers are more in order. you dont really need a locker for each person. 3 or 4 people can share a locker. ok. it would have to be a group that you trust. but that would be better than nothing. hope it passes.

I have hard lockable saddle bags for just that reason, not to mention to store that ever needed wet weather gear. It is another option, until gun lockers are approved. I am not holding my breath .

Re: H.R. 5674 Correctional Officer Safety Act of 2008

Just to reiterate a point that was made before: Every non-BOP agency that visits the institution for dropoffs or pick-ups carry weapons. They do not secure their weapons in our gun lockers and they are not passed off to our perimeter patrols. The agency knows exactly where those staff are securing them: in the trunks of the cars or under the front seats of the vans. Nothing is ever said to those agencies doing that. Numerous county deputies have visited our institutions to deliver warrants, interview inmates and so forth and they always bring their weapons on the property and then secure them in their vehicles. The locks on their trunks are no different than the locks on everybody elses civilian vehicles. Explain the rationale there?

Trying to apply reason to the methods of the BOP will get you nowhere.
