That sounds like the Bureau of Prisons. The BOP would cut us loose in a heartbeat if we got into a shootout or some other confrontation that went bad. However, you can guarantee that if we saved someone else's life (not our own) that they would raise us up and say what a good job they did in training us. They want the LEOSA gone so bad. They come out in our Annual Refresher training and completely contradict what the law says. Do everything they can to restrict when we can carry (i.e. not allowing us to come to work with our weapon, when we're in uniform). They want us to act like LEO's but they don't want to recognize us as such. Bunch of hypocrites.

Brother you are right the bop loves to say you are Federal Law Enforcement but then turn right around and not issue you a badge or allow you to carry your weapon to work what a load of crap.

I think all the LEO community should stand up for him though if things start going bad. If his supporters don't back him up then his shot for winning the case lessens and then we all lose.
Here's the problem. He's NOT a LEO. He's part of a branch of military service. Even though part of the Coast Guards duties now fall under the DHS, his capacity to arrest, carry, etc... still falls under military guidelines. It would be the same if someone from my base, left his duty post, went into town, and then for whatever reason flashed his badge and attempted to arrest someone. That person would get laughed at and probably shot for his "effort".

Essentially, as stated earlier, the guys f*cked. I hope he wins, I really do, but honestly, he should have known better.
